Songs on this playlist inspired me a lot when I created “Live Your Fantasy”. In order to write this song, I went to Scott Jacoby in NY, the producer and writer I wrote “Trouble” with. I was listening to to a lot of great funky stuff both old and new - like Bruno Mars, Daft Punk, Mark Ronson, Earth Wind & Fire and Prince. I wanted to show a more fun side of myself and to have a song on the album that was a dance floor banger for the ladies. I called in Solomon Dorsey on bass and Nate Smith on drums for that live groove and we built it from there, adding production and different sections. The real magic started with the phrase “Live Your Fantasy” which opened up a world for lyricists Zach Wilson, Talia Billig and myself to explore. Positive, female-friendly, sexy and playful this is definitely one of my favorite songs on the album and represents my Minneapolis funk roots!
